The Department administered the Carrier Industry Development Plan (IDP) provisions, a licensing requirement of the Telecommunications Act 1997, until their repeal with effect from 24 September 2005.
Licensed telecommunications carriers were required annually to advise the Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts of the industry development outcomes resulting from their activities.
Progress reports are available from the links on the right. The carrier IDP guidelines that applied are also included for historical purposes. However, as the IDP arrangements have been repealed, they no longer apply.
